Join us Tuesday, October 19 at 7 pm for the first book in our new monthly Adult Reading & Discussion series- Armchair Adventurers: Explorations in Geography, Culture and Wanderlust! In this series, funded in part through a New York Humanities grant, we’ll travel the globe with fellow explorers, through literature.
We will start with a look at the United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific. TC3 professor of History and Political Science, David Flaten, will help facilitate the first discussion as we look at John Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley: In Search of America on October 19 at 7 pm. Though written in 1962, Steinbeck’s road trip to reconnect with America remains relevant today. His humor, insight and stories will resonate with anyone who has traveled and interest those who have not!
Register here or call the library to reserve your copy of the book.
Upcoming programs in the series to be held on the following Tuesday evenings at 7 pm at the library:
- November 16 : Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe by Bill Bryson
- December 14 : Postcards from the Borderlands with a ZOOM interview with author, Prof. David Mould
- January 18: The Geography of Bliss: One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World by Eric Weiner.
