THIS PROGRAM IS NOW FULL! Please contact the library to be put on the waiting list
The American Girl History Book Club will start on Wednesday, October 2 from 4 – 5:30. We will explore the history of New Orleans in 1853 with a look at the culture, racial environment, friendships, fitting in, different families and the Yellow Fever Epidemic. Each week we will look at the history, crafts, the stories and the food.
The club will meet every other Wednesday on the following dates:
- October 2- Introduction
- October 16- Meet Marie-Grace
- October 30-Meet Cecile
- November 13 – Marie Grace and the Orphans
- December 4 – Troubles for Cecile
- December 18- Marie-Grace Makes a Difference
- January 8- Cecile’s Gift
- January 22- Final meeting and party!
Students are expected to attend all the meetings. They will need to read about 70 pages a week and be able to do reading, writing and the crafts in the club, so it is recommended for 3rd grade and up. Space is limited, so you will be notified when your registration is complete. Hopefully everyone can fit in! The club is always a lot of fun.
Note- There is no transportation available to the library this year from the school.
Participants who come to all the meetings and complete the reading assignments will have the opportunity to get a free American Girl 18″ doll at the end of the club party (one doll per family).
