May Storytime – Fridays at 10am

Join your friends at the library every Friday at 10am for stories, songs, and fun! Each week, we have a free book for all families, while supplies last, with thanks to the Rosen Library Fund grant from the Community Foundation of Tompkins County. Here’s what we have lined up for this month:

  • May 2 – Mother Goose Day/Nursery Rhymes – We’re going to start out the month with lots of rhymes and movement as we explore nursery rhymes. The take home book will be Bunny to Bunny by Jill Shinderman.
  • May 9 – Mother’s Day – Let’s celebrate some of the most important women in our lives with stories about mothers and mothering. Our giveaway book will be The Night Before Mother’s Day, a fun spoof on a familiar holiday story.
  • May 16 – Space – We’ll have a combination of non-fiction and imaginary stories to explore. The free book will be The Stars Beckoned by Candy Wellins, a picture book biography of Edward White, the first American to walk in space.
  • May 23 – Bicycles – With warmer weather here to stay, it is time to think about riding bikes! Elena Rides by Juana Medina will be our featured book.
  • May 30 – Swimming – Our last theme for the month will focus on another wonderful part of summer: swimming! Whether you are in a local creek, pond, lake or pool, it’s time to get ready to get wet! 1, 2, 3, Jump by Lisl H. Detlefsen tells the story of a curious kid about to start swimming lessons.

We would like to thank Clark’s Food Mart as our new fresh fruit and vegetable sponsor for storytime!
