Ukulele Jam Session

Our monthly ukulele jam session will meet on Thursday, February 6 from 4-5pm.
Bring a song to share with or teach the group! Files can be sent to the library for printing, or come early to make some copies, if you are using printed music.
No registration necessary! Some ukuleles will be available to borrow, if you just want to try it out or if your ukulele is in the shop!

Do you have a story to tell? Join the Southworth Library Writing group. The group will meet every second Thursday of the month at 11am. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, February 13th.
– Get prompts and ideas to unleash your creativity.
– Practice writing in a supportive, encouraging group.
– Share your writing for feedback (always optional).
No experience necessary! Whether you write in a journal, have ideas for a novel, want to leave a memoir for your grandchildren, or are a published author, you’re welcome to join. These one-hour workshops will involve a variety of prompts, writing time, and opportunities to workshop pieces. All abilities and interests are welcome!

Have you heard about the new trendy reading groups where people gather to read silently? We’ll meet after hours at the library on Monday, February 24th at 6:30. We’ll spend some time chatting and getting snacks, and give a preview of the give away book and then you will be free to grab a cozy seat and read in a room with other readers, no conversation required! This month we will be starting Nicholas Sparks’ Dreamland, or you can bring your own book along.
This book group book is appropriate for ages 16+. Light refreshments will be served.

Recent winner of the local Trampoline Competitive Storytelling event – The Big Showdown- comedian Barbara Lang will be at the library with her one woman show: Stories from the Stacks.
Barbara’s delightful take on the humorous events that occur in our daily lives will charm and amuse you. Her heartfelt stories, often at her own expense, provide insight and a lively perspective for life at its best! Don’t miss this delightful presentation by our own hometown hero.
