Word and Image: A Trip Through the Ages with Carol Hockett

For several thousand years artworks from Egyptian reliefs to contemporary signs have included text and messages for the viewer. What does the text mean and have to tell us about beliefs, culture and the power of the word?

Hintsa Family Manager of School and Family Programs for the Johnson Art Museum at Cornell University, Carol Hockett will take participants on a journey from ancient hieroglyphs to contemporary signs, from medieval illuminations to Pop art signs in this lunchtime learning brown bag event. Coffee and beverages will be available.
